This blog is for all the football enthusiasts and lovers of the sport in India. This is to say ’Let’s Play Our Part for the future Glory of Indian Football!’
Let’s for once stop complaining about the quality of the sport in this country and take a small responsibility for the development and the Glory of Indian football
With another victory over Mauritius ,Indian football is on a resurgent drive. The quality of the game may not be world class but the enthusiasm of a passionate ‘Indian football fan’ is definitely nothing less than world class and yet , unfortunately, there aren’t too many of these fans in comparison to the other major sport – cricket. In fact in India there are more followers of European club football with its ardent fan base than there are fans of I-league or ISL and it is understandably so. But let’s ask ourselves a simple question… " As passionate football fans or even as followers and lovers of this beautiful game, don’t we as citizen of this country want to see our nation play the World Cup? And can we in our small ways , contribute to its growth? Do we have a responsibility towards the upliftment of the game in this country?’ After all we are the largest democracy of the world, the second most populated country, the seventh largest country in terms of geographical vastness and a nation with one of the fastest growing GDP. But when it comes to the most popular sport of the world, we are languishing somewhere at the bottom? Notwithstanding, the quality of play or the lack of infra structure and the administrative blunders that are associated with Indian football, can we not do something for it, something as simple as supporting the game at National level. Barring the States of Kerala, West Bengal, Goa and the North Eastern States ( and maybe now Karnataka , due to the support of Bengaluru FC) , there is hardly any supporter base of Indian football. However, this can be rectified If every football lover across the country, every supporter who supports a major European club passionately can at least select one Indian club, whether it is from the city where he lives or he was born or in case if his city doesn’t field any club, then in that case he can identify a club from some other city and support it in at least one of the Indian leagues. He can watch their games on TV or the net or if possible go to the ground and support the team. When the Indian National team is playing, these fans can upload post on their facebook or twitter and watch the game on TV or again if possible g to the ground and support the team. It was such a sorry sight to see the half empty stadium at the Andheri Sports Complex yesterday when India played Mauritius! And Yet Mumbai has vociferous and passionate football followers who cna bleed when their favourite EPL or La Liga teams play somewhere in Europe. Yes, undeniably our quality of football is very average but that should not be the reason for us to not go to the grounds and cheer the boys and make football a sponsor driven sport!!! Let’s stop thinking about our personal entertainment value for once and be a force by ourselves who can provide the impetus and the unconditional spirit of the supporters to the Indian footballers… and for that we have to back our boys, come what may!!!! Therefore, if these same football lovers throng the stadiums to show their support or watch it on television, then there will be an automatic surge of supporters for Indian football, which will not only bring more sponsors and money to the game at national level but it will also encourage the boys and give them more than enough steam to perform. We as ordinary people cannot run the football administrative body and neither can we provide better infrastructure to the Indian footballers but what we can provide , no authority or administrator can provide… we can be the spine and the spirit of Indian football- The Spirit and the force of enthusiasm and love and these are few of the things that most of the players play their sports for , the thing that eventually brings them glory and greatness, which in turn will bring glory to the nation as well! Let each one of us as Football fans do this much for the love of the sport in this country so that the largest democracy can someday become one of the strongest force in the world’s most loved sport! Even if we can do this little much, it will go a long , long way in search of glorious days of Indian Football.
Didier Drogba-The Best
When I first started watching football way back in 2008, I didn’t know much about the various clubs and also I could not decide which team to support. Then came the game between liverpool and Chelsea. My first experience of a footballing game. Right from the premier league anthem to the teams coming out of the tunnel, it had a chivalric feel to it. The atmosphere at anfield was one of its own. And then came the man who made me fall in love with football. Tall, muscular full of energy. Drogba 11 said the jersey and there I knew I have found a guy to look forward to. Pacy, skillful and a powerful shot. You know people would argue about how the likes of pele and maradona and all the other greats are the best in the footballing world but for me it has always been Didier Drogba. And who could forget that night in Munich. 2012. Allianz Arena, The stage was all set for Bayern to lift the trophy in their own backyard. They were the clear favorites. And against them was a Chelsea side who was revolutionized after the sacking of Andre Villas Boas in the mid season and somehow scrapped their way into the finals. We were the clear underdogs. 83rd minute, Bayern took the lead after breaking down our resilient defence and finally breaching Petr Cech’s goal. It seemed that Bayern were on their way. The supporters lost hope. But one man did not. Up came the corner in the 88th minute and he jumped for it. Jumped as if it was the last match of his career. Jumped as if it was his life on the line. Jumped as if all the history of the club is on his shoulders. And my word he headed that ball like a bullet into bayern’s goal. We equalized and the match went to penalties. We were just one kick away from becoming the champions of Europe. But ofcourse, the wounds of 2008 were still fresh where we were in the same situation and Terry slipped we bottled it. It was all not over yet. As the camera focused on the player coming to take the last kick the opposition goalkeeper must have had nightmares. Yes, it was our tallisman. Yes it was Didier. cool as an ice he slotted the penalty home and up we all went. Celebrating as if we had conquered the world. All thanks to one man. DIDIER DROGBA
Talking about sports, why one or the other person in the world like sports and games. The reason behind this is that it helps us to remain fit, stay healthy and avoid diseases. But this is the answer that every student studying in 1st or 2nd standard gives. The real reason behind the addiction toward sports is that it gives us entertainment, enjoyment, pleasure and many more good things which are beyond comparison.
Usually it is the nature of the man that they can’t give up their interest at their body. No matter how they look, whether they are ugly or beautiful they want to maintain their fitness. It helps to improve teamwork among the people. An anonymous intellect had famously quoted that “TALENT WINS GAME BUT TEAMWORK WINS CHAMPIONSHIP”. By playing games like soccer, cricket, basketball the mutual understanding between the players improves. Due to modernization and urbanization there is a lot of stress among the people. The major thing that helps people to reduce stress is enjoy playing any sport that they love or watch the game of their favourite team. For many years, sports had been the major entertainment sector in the world. Lets take the example of El Clásico
a name given to the football match played between fierce rivals Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. The rivalry is regarded as one of the biggest in world sport. Both clubs have a global fanbase; they are the world’s two most followed sports teams on social media. As a personal fan of FC Barcelona and also Lionel Messi especially this game pumps my adrenaline secretion high. In the same way for cricket enthusiast watching a T20 game is very much entertaining. That’s why sports helps us to burst stress.
Last but not the least sports is the biggest market for country’s economy. For organizing world sports meet like Olympics, FIFA Football World Cup, Super Bowl, Euro cup, UEFA Champions league a country must have a world class Grounds providing World Class facilities. Secondly it is a great way for Publicity for top brands and companies. For instance spanish league’s powerful club FC Barcelona’s kit sponsor is NIKE. Though I am from India, I know its kit’s sponsors. This shows the effectiveness of publicity and sponsorship in sports.
With this I conclude that there are endless advantages of sports. But today also there are few peoples in the world that treat academics important than sports. I pray to god that some day the entire world will understand the necessity of sports and realize what all good it can bring to our life.

A country so cheering for a silver medal in Olympics shows our overwhelming passion for sports. We a country divided by state, language, culture unite in the event of cricket, football and many other games and feel the right spirit of unity among diversity.I think as emerging country our focus on sports should be more improvised and i really dream of a country so bounded to sports. We need to implement right actions at school level for developing interest among students. We need a generation to take our name to heights like Mr.Abhinav bindra, P V sindhu ,sachin tendulkar did.All the best…
